Cryotherapy is a common practice procedure used to treat a variety of wounds, both benign and malignant. In one report, cryotherapy was the second most common office procedure after skin removal. The mechanism of damage in cryotherapy is necrosis, i.e. the freezing and thawing of cells. The treated areas were epithelized. The side effects of cryotherapy are usually minor and short-lived.
